I knew his hand... And still lost. You gotta read this.
$2/$5 NLHE at Doc And Eddy's. $300 Pot limit.
I am Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 10[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 1 limper, I limp on button. SB(Tight player preflop, I saw his cards the whole day.) I look over and see his A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], he raises $25 to go. BB folds, limper folds, I call. $60 pot. flop is J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB bets $30. I call $30. $120 pot. Turn A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB checks, I go all-in for $90 to get the pot limit. SB calls and get another damn [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] on the river. Final pot = $297 won by SB, ace high flush. Other then telling me to fold preflop, what else could I have done? |

Re: I knew his hand... And still lost. You gotta read this.
I've got a great idea. Don't call $25 pre-flop with a dominated hand, whether you know what the other guy's got or not. It's obvious that you're incapable of playing someone off a better hand, so why put yourself through the pain?
Also: Stop playing in a game with such a dumb-ass structure. But stop cheating is my first suggestion. PS If raising 5xBB out of the small blind with ATs is your definition of "tight," then I think you could also look into redefining your terminology. |

I wouldn't cheat.
If I did cheat, I would fold preflop. If I didn't fold preflop, I would fold the flop. The money is extremely shallow and you're unlikely to bluff him even if a blank falls on the turn. |

Since when is looking over and seeing someone hands cheating?
Am I supposed to look away and try not to see his hand? |

Re: I knew his hand... And still lost. You gotta read this.
I don't play these limits but I'll offer advice anyways.
How about checking the turn and taking a card off. He is going to call no matter what. But you don't lose if you check behind on the turn. While you can still fold if a spade comes up. He will pay you off if no Q or T comes up and considering there are two T's gone and one Q gone I take my chances and check behind and take a "safe" river card and know I will get paid off on the river (or fold on the river). |

not telling the guy at least once that he is flashing his cards seems really slimy. big bet is a gentleman's game, so show a little class.

Catching a peek at the occasional hole card in $3/6 limit is fine. You are (presumably) playing at a higher level. Respect the game. -Ash |

Re: I knew his hand... And still lost. You gotta read this.
I feel silly even replying to this post. But here goes...
Obviously you are being shady by peeking at his cards. Is it his fault for showing? Yes... Is it your fault for taking advantage of it? Yes If there were any decent players in the game they would see you peeking at his cards. And If I was in the game, I would loose a ton of respect for you and would be less likely to join a table with you. So thats the first part of my response. The second part is that you know he has a gutshot and the nut flush draw for a total of 12 outs on the flop. (One of his straight outs making a flsuh for him, not including the fact he doesent need outs because he currently has you beat). You know you have 7 outs with the open ended draw. (the 9 of spades not being live)Also you can be outdrawn if you make as well. But you call his flop bet? I mean do you like these odds? I would not play QT on the button. And if the game is so rediculously soft you can play QT here, then I come in raising on the button for sure. It looks to me like you are being slimy and just trying to eek cash out of the guy. Is that the type of person you want to be? |
