No free cards!
$0.50 ante, $1 bring-in, $3/$6 stud
I am dealt (8d 5c) 8h. The 3s brings it in, Kh calls, Ad calls, 4h folds, I call, Jd calls, Ts folds, 6s calls. On fourth it looks like: XX 3s 4s XX Kh 6c XX Ad 6h (8d5c) 8h 3h XX Jd Ah XX 6s Td The Jd Ah is now first to act and is on my left. Everyone checks around to me. I bet. Comments? |

Re: No free cards!
I don't know why you're in this pot. I'd fold on 3rd.
Don't like your bet on 4th either, what are you trying to achieve here? I don't know what sort of opposition you're up against, but I guess you're gonna get called by most of the table. Not likely 8s up will win this pot and I doubt if catching a heart on 5th will scare these punters off. Another 8 and you may get paid.. looks to be your only hope here. I'd check along and take the free card. But I wouldn't be in this pot. |

Re: No free cards!
In a loose passive game, I will limp in with hands like this hoping to hit trips, in which case my opponents will pay me off handsomely. You didn't hit trips, and I would take the free card.

Re: No free cards!
no reason to bet here you are probably better off checking. if you bet you will be called by almost everyone and the pot will be that much bigger. take the free card and play accordingly. with your hand in a multiway pot i would be looking for a chance to get a cheap card not to limit the field.

[ QUOTE ]
Not likely 8s up will win this pot [/ QUOTE ] They certainly won't if you let all those non-pair hands see 5th street for free. I bet with what is very likely the best hand and make another decision on 5th street. |

Re: No free cards!
First off, I fold on third here just so you know. I would only like to limp here with a strait flush kicker in an unraised pot. But since you called...
There's $8 in the pot already which equates to 2 2/3 small bets. Despite what other people think I believe a bet here is correct. You have what I believe is the best hand and I dont like giving a free card at all. As far as I can see you may even have the only pair. These are 3-6 players. Bet fourth then make a decision on fifth depending on what your called by and what they catch. Mike Emery |

Re: No free cards!
If this game is loose passive and the players are weak then you probably have a value bet. If not then you should have checked.

Re: No free cards!
Do you always play against 4 overcards to your pair and your low, non-flush kicker with two overcards yet to bet?
Getting heads up with this hand is more important to me than betting with what might be the best hand since it's so marginal. I don't think a bet is going to reduce the field with so many overcards to your non-scary board. So I'd take the free card here. |

Re: No free cards!
THROW in Your hand on THIRD Street.
Playing non quality split pairs without an Overcard Kicker to the board is a long term LOSING play. I find that a great deal of my Profit comes from Opponents playing such offerings as you were dealt, while I'm holding a quality pair. |
