Default blind crazy

ok. I have read ALOT and played some. I am playing much more now and can see ( I believe ) my play getting better. Staying about even for time being. Looking for those leaks that slowly sap winnings back away. I feel that a problem I have is discipline in the blinds ( especially BB ). Any little mental trick or key thought suggestions for always trying to defend my blind...I always feel like someone is on the steal, I know I am too territorial,,,Help?

ps. mainly internet poker. Live games I am definitely ahead, but of course, not near as many hands as on line cause no casinos (with poker) nearby.

I'll take a stab, as I had this problem for awhile too.

The money is not yours. Sure, you put it out there, but it is no longer yours.

Sometimes, you have to defend the blind, yes. But not all the time. That one small bet is the sacrifice everyone makes, don't turn it into a multiple BB loss.

But I hear you, when it gets folded around to the button or SB I: a) plan to change tables and b) think that the guy is stealing. But if you don't have the cards, don't go for it. Of course, there are caveats to this, but as a general rule, I don't try to re-raise steal from the big blind too often.

Hi Crazy,

As your experience progresses, you will have a better feel of when and how to defend your blinds more efficiently. For what it's worth, I do have a little trick. I just pretend that there were no raise preflop, and the flop missed me completely, and I let my hand go. Same loss, one sb. You'll be surprised how many times the flop will miss your bb hand. I also notice as time went by the problem situations I avoid when not defending, missed draws and etc, which would cost a stack of chips.

Even when you do defend, be active and have a plan of action based on the flop to come. Without a plan, you are just reacting and will be dominated all the time. Good luck.

My key thought suggestion is to stop looking for little tricks that will improve your results.
