why do people do this?
scenario:
heads up, player A bets, player B folds, player A takes a peek at his hole cards before tossing them in. ive heard conflicting reasons for this. why do people look at their cards again?!?!? also, if you are a person who does it, please explain why. i cant recall a time ive ever looked at my hole cards after my opponent folded to a bet. i knew what they were when i bet, and i know they didnt change, why look? |

Re: why do people do this?
Maybe because you're sad to see them go, and anticipate missing them very much.

Re: why do people do this?
The reason I have heard is because they had a real hand and wanted to look at it again. At higher levels maybe it is because they want you to think they had a real hand.
Or maybe they never looked the first time and wanted to see what they were bluffing with |

Re: why do people do this?
I do this because I have a "pretty" hand and I want to see it again. The hand is "pretty" because it's huge or because it's a huge bluff. I don't know why I want to see it again, but I do.

Re: why do people do this?
Its 6.00 am, you've been here since 8 pm. Cold deck dosent even begin to describe the cards you've been dealt, not to mention all the bad beats you've taken. You're in the MP and its folded to you and you hold TT, you dont raise cause by this point you've retreated into a weak-tight shell due to all the bad beats you've taken rectally. Its folded back to BB who checks
Flop comes 5 5 T BB checks, as do you Turn X 5 5 T BB checks, what to do? what do to? you bet BB folds......DAMN IT!!!! as you the dealer starts to push you the crappy little pot you've won, you look down at the one good hand you've had in the last 5 hours and cant believe you didnt get paid. Re: why do people do this?
i don't play much B&M...but i remember one time when my AA on the button was capped before it even got around to me.
i got to muck on the on the turn when the board was KKQQ because i wasn't getting the odds to chase my 2-outer (lot of raising on the turn by the 2 guys with the K's). so....for whatever reason...i felt inclined to peek at my beautiful rockets again. naturally, the river was an A and i missed out on a gigantic pot. i'm not sure exactly why i looked at my AA again....but i remembered doing it. |
