Default I\'m having trouble analyzing the game I\'m in until after I leave

Hello!

I'm having trouble analyzing the game I'm in while I'm playing in it. About an hour after I leave, however, I start to see all sorts of trends and patterns that really would have helped me while I was still there. Do you people have any tips, tricks or advice for me? Is there a drill I should be doing, or what?

Thanks!!

every showdown, you see the river people's hole cards. then you can extrapolate back on their action to discover their starting requirements, aggressiveness etc.

You will have bags of time to do this, you just need the discipline to do it. It is not always natural for people to be detached from the table and able to study it impassively, especially if you get a kick out of gaming and like to concentrate on your decisions.

If you remember that knowing their decision making process helps yours, you should be able to analyse the game in no time.

Regards,

Keep doing what you're doing and analyzing afterwards. It'll come more easily each time.

One thing that helps me (I read it some book somewhere) is too keep a running commentary in your head. "Jim checks, Fred bets, fat guy calls, ugly girl raises, hot chick folds, hot chick takes a sip of her drink, hot chick drops her napkin and bends to pick it up, err uh... bunch of people called."

Anyhow, you get the idea.

You're not alone. I'm also not the best at this. The more I do it, however, the better I get.

Someone gave me a little series of exercises on here for both analyzing play and board reading.

Every time you make a decision, ask yourself about it.
What are my pot odds?
How many outs do I have?
What hand am I after here?
What can I beat?
What draws are on the board?
Who is being aggressive, who is passive?

Paying attention to those things every time helped me to be cognizant of the patterns of people's behavior, holdings, etc without realizing it.
