Default Bad beats \"R\" US

Those who have experienced really bad beats in the past will appreciate this one......

- Pre flop I have pocket 5 5
- I bet 400, there is one caller
- the flop comes A A 5
- I bet 1000
- caller raises to 2000
* at this point I know he has an ace
- I raise all in about 5000
- he calls
- his hand is A 8
- the turn comes K
- the river comes 8

At least you had the honesty to not post this as a what did I do wrong post. However, bad beat stories cost a dollar (at least according to Sossman and cferejohn) so we'll get your tab started.

That's nothing. Final table of an MTT, 6 left. I'm 5th stack with T10000, big stack has about T37000, T500/T1000 blinds. I've been stealing left and right, and wake up to 55 UTG+1. UTG big stack limps. Table is pretty tight, so I pushin again. Folded around to UTG, who calls with: A4.

So already I'm a 70:30 favorite. Then the flop comes:

5QJ. Boom! Flopped a set. I'm livin' large.
Turn: 2 Ok. A rag, whatever whatever I have a set.
River: 3. Another rag. Gimme those chips. "You have been eliminated in 6th?!?!??! What???!?. Villian shows a straight, 5 high. Ohhh...... "

OUCH! Well if my bad beats gonna cost $1 then that one has to be worth at least $5

I play Poker Stars satellites to the big weekend tourney, this weekend share of $1.2M and some of the wasters and sometimes its really ugly through the qualifiers. Ive seen 6 2 call down a 10000 pre flop raise and make full house to trip Aces, that was UGLY!

People have 1 of 2 reactions to your bad beat story:

1. They don't care.

2. They are happy.

Please keep your bad beat stories to www.riveredagain.com and don't clutter up my forum.

P.S. You owe me $1.

Default Talk about a bad beat...

That's funny. Here's a story- A few weeks ago I'm playing in the 200+15 UB Aruba Satellite. About 30 players remain, top 2 get the trip. I'm in late position with 92o and my wife is going off on me about something so I'm looking at her while I think I am clicking on the 'fold' button. Some guy with a medium stack (and slightly less chips than me) goes all-in in front of me and suddenly I see both of our cards on the table. I accidentally clicked 'call'! The all-in guy shows AK and I take him out when a 2 comes on the flop! I bet he was 'upset'.

Well, he has 3 outs on the turn and 6 on the river...not exactly the worst beat I've ever seen...not even close really...in fact it will happen exactly 22.9% of the time. I've taken and witnessed beats 40 times worse than that.

Well, I don't see the bad beat here. other than the guys loose call with A8, you can't figure the guy would lay the hand down at that flop.

I think a bad beat is a hand that the player makes a bad call (one that you would not Expect to call) and sucks out.

Example from 5-1 ub MTT buy in last night.

Blinds 75/150
Hero UTG+1 T3500 Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Idiot CO T1475 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Hero Raise to T500
Idiot Calls T500

Pot T1305

Flop 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Idiot Pushes his 1/101 flop.
I have to call that.

In this case the guy called 34% of his stack with total crap and hit a 1/101 str8 on the flop.

That hand is good enough to overcall with at the final table.
