i heard that the show is staged and i didnt believe it, but now i dont think he would agree to have it televised if he really was a card counter who was active.

I dont think he agreed to have it filmed necessarily. They interviewed him on fremont after he got thrown out.

i heard some time back about making the book "Bringing Down the House" the MIT blackjack team story a movie. Could this have been a way to promote the story for the future?

After watching the first episode (and only one I'll ever see) I couldn't believe just how insultingly(that a word?) fake it was. The simple life and "marry a midget" are probably less scripted, and might even have more to do with the day to day operations of a casino.
