Quirky hand... what are the odds?
What are the odds of two players being dealt AA on the same hand? Just saw it happen while I was sweating someone in a SNG.

Re: Quirky hand... what are the odds?
[ QUOTE ]
What are the odds of two players being dealt AA on the same hand? Just saw it happen while I was sweating someone in a SNG. [/ QUOTE ] The probability that any particular pair of players gets AA on some hand is 1/270725. The 45 such events are disjoint, so the probability that some pair of players gets AA is 45/270725. In a 9-handed game, there would be only 36 pairs of players, so the probability is 36/270725. |

Re: Quirky hand... what are the odds?
But if you have been dealt AA the probability that someone else also has AA is much higher than this. Don't have time to work out exactly right now but a good approximation for 9 other opponents would be 9*(1/C(50,2)) or about 1/136 .

Re: Quirky hand... what are the odds?
Actually the 9/C(50,2) is exact.
