I guess it depends on whether you put him on a jack or a flush draw.

If I was in that spot and I thought he had the jack, I think I'd try to keep him in the lead a little longer.

If I thought he had the flush draw, I think you played it fine.

I can't understand why he'd call a check-raise and fold on the turn.

Given how it worked out - you played it fine. Like River2Pair I am struggling as to what he calls a bumper CR PF with, and folds, the Turn, though I lean towards a flush draw.

Your CR is fine, though I think the big raise looks a little too much like a 6. Personally, I would go for a t100 raise on the flop, hoping he calls, then bet the pot on the Turn. This way he is incorrectly drawing on both streets, but may also call. With more players involved the CR is still probably a good idea, though you would probably have to push on the Turn to clear the field.

How exactly would one go about determining whether this guy is on a flush draw or has a J? I can see figuring this out if I've played with someone long enough, but in a sit and go? I push on the turn period.
