Sklansky: LP first in - raise
HPFAP says when you are in late position and everything is folded to you, almost always raise. Comments appreciated on whether this was an appropriate application and follow through:

Re: Sklansky: LP first in - raise
If you are in MP3 like the HH says I dont consider that LP. The button and the seat next to it are LP for me at a full table. With Q9 I would still fold if folded to me. It really isnt such a great hand to attempt a steal with.

[ QUOTE ]
HPFAP says when you are in late position and everything is folded to you, almost always raise. [/ QUOTE ] No, it doesn't. Two possible things it does say that you may have misunderstood: 1) If its has been folded to you in LP and you are going to play, you should almost always raise 2) If you posted in LP instead of waiting for the blinds and it is folded to you, you should often raise with any two cards. |

Re: Sklansky: LP first in - raise
I agree with the application of the theory that if you're going to play this hand, open raise with it. But, I personally would've just folded preflop.
As for the rest of the hand....flop bet is standard. I am not sold on this turn CR. I suppose it's one last stab at taking the pot but I dunno. Obviously no jack is going to fold, and neither will a flush draw. Now the flush draw may fold to a river bet if no club comes, but they probably would do that anyway. On the river, another overcard and the 3rd club? Very little chance you have to win this hand. Hope I'm wrong, but... |
