Ken the jeopardy guy speaks! As do some of his opponents!
This board is filled with posts from some of his opponents, and Ken even makes a few posts at the end of page 2! Very interesting.

Quick, someone ask him why he isn't maximizing his bankroll. [/ QUOTE ] because he hasn't visited www.gameshowwhores.com other than that, somebody definantly needs to get on the boards and ask him so hard questions about EV --- I found this link to the jeopardy message boards pretty informative, and I don't know I guess I didn't really realize that Ken is just insanely fast at buzzing in as well as knowing most of the answers. Also, It is incredibly sad that nerds sit through the whole show and report information like this: [ QUOTE ] Games Played: 37 Total Winnings: $1,246,660 Right Answers: 1317 (including Final Jeopardy) Wrong Answers: 120 (including Final Jeopardy) Unforced Errors: 97 (incorrect answer after a buzz-in) Career Batting Average: 0.592 Categories Run: 43 Categories with 4 Correct Responses: 114 Categories with 3 Correct Responses: 127 Categories with 0 Correct Responses: 17 [/ QUOTE ] |

Quick, someone ask him why he isn't maximizing his bankroll. [/ QUOTE ] Because he isn't a gambler and/or poker player. He is a trivia geek playing it safe. |

That's standard output from JeopardyTracker. [/ QUOTE ] oh, wow for a second there i thought that was nerdy, now that you mention that this is standard output from jeopardytracker, you have changed my whole opinion around, and i now think that somehow knowing that he has had 127 catagories with 3 reponses correct is not nerdy at all. |

Also, It is incredibly sad that nerds sit through the whole show and report information like this: [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, and that's so not like a bunch of people endlessly sitting in front a computer clicking their way through card games, and then discussing pot odds, outs, reads, preflop win%, ROI, and EV on an internet bulletin board. eastbay |

Re: Ken the jeopardy guy speaks! As do some of his opponents!
Not to mention, even if he did understand EV (which, being a geek he probebally does) the variance is probebally far higher than he cares to deal with. Remember, this isn't a card game where the "long run" is a lifetime of cardplaying.
Not to mention that in his eyes, mabye the extra x-thousand dollars is not worth the risk. I understand the point, I know that the math says it is in his best interesting, but we forget that a normal (conservative) person is probebally not willing to risk a huge amount of money if he doesn't have to. We also forget that he may be basing his wagers on what he feels he knows about a given category. |
