Flop decision with KQ UTG when an A flops
PokerStars 0.02/0.04 Hold'em (9 handed)
Preflop: Hero is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero raises, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, CO calls, Button calls, SB folds, BB folds. Flop: (9.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero checks, MP2 checks, CO checks, Button bets, Hero ??? 1) Is this a super easy fold? Or is it worth a call since he could be betting a nine, a flush draw... etc. 2) Does anyone bet out on the flop here instead of checking? |

Yep, easy fold. You're out of position with 3 opponents, and being that they called your UTG raise (and none of them came out of the blinds) you're pretty safe in assuming at least 1 has an ace. Check-fold.

I would say it is an easy fold. I think the button has an ace in this situation.. and the K Q has flopped zip.

Re: Flop decision with KQ UTG when an A flops
Do a raise there and see if you can get it heads up, his bet from that position could mean all sorts of things.
If you do, however, you more or less have to bet out on the turn and the river, since he is not very likely to give up a hand like second pair unless he is given ample reason to belive he is behind. If you are reraised now or later in the hand, it is time to give up. I would bet out or check/fold or check/raise depending on the players that are in the hand. k |

Bet this flop. If you are considering calling the button's bet, why not continue your aggression? Unless you have a great read on your table, i would think its is definitly time to bet.

Re: Flop decision with KQ UTG when an A flops
Then why bother raising in the first place? Why not wait until an ace doesnt flop, then bet/raise? Im pretty sure the above, and your advice, is weak-tight thinking. Yes, it sucks when an ace flops, but its times like that when we have to decide if we would rather play poker or masturbate.

Re: Flop decision with KQ UTG when an A flops
Considering the typical .02/.04 PS, I am pretty sure someone has an Ace and you are dead beat. On top of that no backdoor draws are probably going to help you.
Fold I would say. I would even say you can just call this PF instead of the raise. |

You missed this flop by about a hundred miles. Easy check/fold. Like the preflop raise though. Especially at nano-limits where you will get coldcalled by lots of trash.

Re: Flop decision with KQ UTG when an A flops
you can't check-fold this, an Ace is not always dealt or played preflop. you are the preflop raiser. bet the flop, or since you checked, isolation raise the button's potential steal. lead the turn if only the button calls and then you are probably done putting money into the pot.
