first PL O-hi session (tourney)
been meaning to try out some pot-limit omaha high. this is early in a $15-multi table tourney. 3rd level, blinds are 25-50. people mostly close to starting stack sizes of 1500. I have 1800.
As3sJcTc in BB. 4 limpers, SB complete, and I check. Qd 5s 4s. pot is 300. checks around to button (1800) who bets pot, 300. I call. 4c. I check. Button bets 300 again. I call. Pot is 1,500. 2c. Okay, that helps. I guess. I check. button goes all-in. I fold. good fold?--paired board, non-nut straight. misplayed badly? |

Re: first PL O-hi session (tourney)
mosta,
Let me start by saying I am by no means an expert. I would have folded on the turn. In Omaha, when there is a pair on the board, straights and flushes are just not great hands. You folded on the river after making a straight (granted it was the low end), but I was wondering if you would have folded had it made your flush? Folding on the river was probably a good move given the board. Just my 2cents. |

Re: first PL O-hi session (tourney)
you make a good point--why did I call the turn, make my hand, and then fold? I guess I was hoping he would underbet again. I would have played the flush the same way I think.
PS I tripled up with around 40 out of 120 players left and got up to around 5th stack. Then I got all-in pre-flop with KK99 (probably bad, maybe I'll post it) against AA and got crippled. I went out shortstacked on the bubble, naturally. |

Re: first PL O-hi session (tourney)
What site was this tourney on? Also, do you or anyone else know of sites with good PLO high tourneys? Thanks.

this was on paradise. first time I ever played PLO, so I can't comment on how good the games are, in any respect.

Re: first PL O-hi session (tourney)
I would most definitely bet out 200 on the flop here. You have the nut flush draw, str8flush draw, non-nut str8 draw, and runner-runner str8 possibilites.
The way you played it, you set yourself up to lose the pot. A pot bet by the button does not mean he has a great hand, or a great hand at all - unless you have a very specific read on this player. When the turn pairs, you should not be calling this bet if you plan on folding the river when you improve. Like previous posters said, if you're giving him credit for a real hand on a paired board then drawing to str8s or flushes is not a great idea. |
