I Rarely Fold On The River, But This Time...
This came at the tail end of a bad session, and has been bothering me.
Astute fold or weak-tight disregard for odds? Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG raises, 2 folds, MP2 calls, 1 fold, Hero calls, 1 fold, SB calls, BB calls, Flop: (10 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, BB bets, UTG raises, MP2 folds, Hero calls, SB calls, BB 3-bets, UTG calls, Hero calls, SB folds. I hate it, but I believe it's correct.

Is calling a UTG raise with AJo standard? I have to know UTG pretty well to make that call.

AJo should usually be folded to a raise preflop. River fold is easy too. |

Easy river fold. Also an easy fold preflop, unless you know UTG raises with weak hands, in which case you need to 3-bet. I doubt if a coldcall with AJo is ever correct.

Re: I Rarely Fold On The River, But This Time...
Making those calls preflop can turn you into a loser real fast. You're a dog to AA, KK, QQ, AK, AQ, 10-10, etc. If he has a bigger ace, you're drawing to three cards and will have to pay off if the ace comes. You save money by dumping hands like AJ, A-10 to two cold. AQ is raise or fold depending on raiser.
