Re: $55- tough trips situation
At my level this is almost always a Q, so I call. But don't know what it means in a 55. I like a call though.

The problem with 3 bet pushing the flop is that your opponent will only call with hands that beat you but not call you with a queen. The only hands better than you that fold are MAYBE j9 and j10. [/ QUOTE ] this is just weak tight jibberish. |

Three-betting the flop is going to make him fold a lot of hands that you want calling, so you miss out on lots of value, such as those times he interprets your call as weakness and pushes the turn. |

Re: $55- tough trips situation
Both pushing the flop and checking to induce the bluff will sometimes do good things and sometimes do bad things. It's not something you can really reason out. If you know the guy likes to bluff or you know he like to play sheriff, it would help, but we rarely know these things. I wish I knew which line were more profitable. As it is, I usually protect my hand, but mix it up a bit and don't really have any spectacular reasons for which I choose.

Re: $55- tough trips situation
This thread is weird. How you would ever fold here is beyond me. He has played the hand so fast for someone with trips, and I don't see this that often at Party. There are so many draws. Wow, there are just so many hands he could have, how can you fold?
3-betting is meh, but I like calling the raise and c/r'ing the turn all-in. |

wow, so many calls... what do u put oponent on? what cards would he play isn this manner? Does the min raise not scare anyone? I AM TERRIFIED OF MINRAISES! Is it too weak of me to fold on turn after giving away initiative? [/ QUOTE ] Considering the way you played this hand, wouldn't AQ/KQ play this hand the same way, pushing on the turn because they fear you're on the flush draw? Here's the point, villain generally pushes here because he's trying to protect his hand. YOU HAVE THE MONSTER. Our villain's hand certainly is not QJ (full house) because he would want his opponent to draw to the flush, and hopefully pay him off. I certainly think this hand is AQ the way you played it. |
