Is there any equity in and OESFD? Not trying to argue, just would like to know.

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope. Any 7 is way ahead.

Holdem Hi: 500000 sampled boards containing Td 7d Qh 7h
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
9d 8d 147735 29.55 352265 70.45 0 0.00 0.295
Ac 7c 352265 70.45 147735 29.55 0 0.00 0.705

Even if we're up against top pair on an unpaired board, trying to force out CO is bad poker:

You dont have enough equity to reraise this turn.

Yea, I think the turn reraise was a mistake. You knocked out the CO, so you didn't even get more money in the pot, and I dont think you're equity dictated the raise either. I'd rather call, bring the CO along and raise the river if I hit.

I hate this play. You do realize you have just 8-high at the moment, right?

(sheepish)

Yeah, but not until I wrote this post, specifically the line about reading SB for a 7. I said, "Wait a minute, I knew he had a 7, and even though I had a monster draw, I'm still a 2-1 dog, why the hell did I reraise?"

Guess I got a little carried away with the "play strong draws aggressively" advice.

I do realize it was dumb, if for no other reason than it forced CO to fold. Plus, SB check-called the river because he probably realized his three kicker (chuckle) was no good.

Baaaaaa.

Wheeeeeeeeee!

In a desperate attempt to rationalize my stupidity, I must note that if CO had a garden-variety straight and/or flush draw and he decided to release instead of calling two cold against a possible full house, then I did buy his outs.

Not that that mattered a whole lot, though. By my count, the most outs I could have bought is six (if he had A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]/K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], there's only three diamonds left that give him the nuts and three jacks to give him a straight). And obviously, the chances of him having just such a hand and folding it anyway are anorexic.
