Question: is this bet for value in the long run? Any other comments on play?

This hand is absolutely standard. I'm guessing from the tone of your post that you lost to a passively played flush.

It's Ok, but I'm not sure if it was bet for value. 2 week ago I'd surely checked this river. Best play?

Checking this river would be horribly bad given that you have top set and been shown zero aggression on the turn.

This is a very easy river bet. You're good nearly all the time and there are loads of worse hands they'll call with.

Checking here would be really bad. Bet this river with hands like AK AQ or AJ also.
