Re: 45s bottom two pair against a total monkey 5/10
[ QUOTE ]
I might have reraised the flop to 650 or so just to take it right there or demand a stiff price for his draws. Then again, I'm the type of player that just wants to win the pot, no matter how small. [/ QUOTE ] I think this is limit mentality. I don't want to win small pots with strong but vulnerable hands in no limit. I want to stack the other player. If that means giving them the odds on the flop to make their card on the turn (whether it be a flush, straight, or something that counterfeits my two pair), so be it. They won't be getting the odds to see the turn. [ QUOTE ] You have a strong but vulnerable hand. Allowing a turn and river to hit is too risky for my style of play. [/ QUOTE ] Style shmyle. Allowing a cheap turn is fine. Allowing a cheap river when the turn is a brick is not fine. If you want to play nitty and turn a small profit, more power to you. But wouldn't you be better off making more money in a limit game? Disclaimer: I'm new to NL, but I keep reading things here (and in Ciaffone and Reuben's book) that are very much counter to limit play. Your post reminds me of how I play my limit game, which is why I'm disagreeing so much. But I may be off base. I'll see if anyone follows up. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] He usually would have picked up 3 more outs on the turn if the turn card was higher than your 2 cards. [/ QUOTE ] you know this is wrong, right? [/ QUOTE ] Just to be crystal clear here...if you have an overpair, you'll always beat a flopped two pair if the river matches the turn. Example: K45-3-3 AA improves to Aces up and beats fives and fours. So yeah, like fim said, this is wrong. [/ QUOTE ] He's not talking about an overpair, he's talking about a top pair hand. |

This is a pretty bizarre hand. His flop and turn action, to me, screams FPS. I -somewhat- like your line. I kind of feel like you need to re-raise the flop here.

Ok so now that I've seen some of the responses I definitely think you should re-raise the flop. I can see waiting for a good card on the turn and trying to get all-in (giving him a better price) but I think your hand is too vulnerable for that kind of play.

Re: 45s bottom two pair against a total monkey 5/10
I re-raise flop. Barring other circumstances, when check raised on flop (and i feel im way ahead), I will:
1. 3 bet the crazies on flop 2. call, then c/r the turn against the solids |
