Re: Trying to apply SSH concepts at Party 1/2. AJo in middle position.
Yeah, calling one bet on the river in a big pot kinda assumes you have a hand with which to call.

no content here, but do keep posting questions to firm up what you're reading!
it's like blackjack: counting cards improves your chances, but counting cards wrong is worse than not counting at all. |

[ QUOTE ]
This is a very very standard and easy muck, why did you push this hand so hard? [/ QUOTE ] As I said in my original post, I'm having a bit of trouble adjusting to the "don't fold in large pots" concept of SSH. I guess the key words (which is missing from my quote) is "decent hands" which another poster was kind enough to point out. Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it! |

[ QUOTE ] River: (9.50 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets, Hero folds. This might be the big mistake in the pot. Folding for just one bet on the river. [/ QUOTE ] If you think this was your biggest mistake, you need some adjustments in your thinking. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. This is a clear misapplication of not folding the river for 1 bet. In this case, you don't have a hand. You don't even have a bluff catcher. Why call? |

I always feel really weak folding these flops in the situation but it's the right play, think about it, what card can you catch on the turn to give you a winning hand?
