I emailed Cardplayer and asked the to run an article on this plan. I suggest you do likewise.

that really is pretty bad.

as i stated in the MTT forum...I only had a couple of steps going at a time so as not to get into a situation of having 4 or 5 $200 or $500 entries that would eventually become meaningless.
After I lost those I gave up on the steps.

When I compare this to the outstanding customer-service I typically receive at Stars...plus the fact that THEY cover the hotel-room for you at the WSOP (whereas Party takes it out of the prize-pool..and possibly exaggerated the price of the hotel) it seems pretty obvious that Party COULD do things right.
It IS possible not to be completely clueless and be up front with the customer.

Stars has those groovy tourney-dollars.
I asked them a few months ago if my W$ were going to expire if I didn't get into an EPT event....they explained that they will NOT expire. I could use my W$ for the WSOP qualifiers that were coming up...or the WCOOP after that, etc.

It's obvious they had had this question before and they THOUGHT IT OUT.
They don't seem to be going out of their way to try to rip-off their customers.

After party implemented the re-buys where you have to pay ANOTHER entry-fee on EACH re-buy or add-on I had determined that Party is CLEARLY going out of their way to try to rip-off their customers.

This WSOP-steps fiasco is just further evidence of that.

It's really embarassing.

Done, but Party is a major advertiser at Cardplayer. I highly doubt they'd go out of their way to potentially piss Party off.

This whole situation is absurd. I love Stars more and more every day.

makes perfect sense, what is the problem

Let's say it's a few hours left until a $25k event starts at the Bellagio. They are advertising a satellite, and you buy in for $2500+vig. There are ten seats, over the next few hours 8 other people buy in, but a 10th fail to show. The main event starts, now the dealer informs you that the satellite is cancelled and you will not be refunded your $2500.

See the problem now?

Not only is Party's decision (if this is def. what will happen) a bunch of BS, it just doesn't seem to make business sense. There is probably a decent subset of their customer base that has some of these freerolls. While many players don't notice the high rake on these things, they just might notice that they are having something taken away from them. I have a couple mini-step1 (not wsop, but still) freerolls that I'll probably never use, but I'd be pissed as hell if they're liquidated. I just don't see how Party calculates this is to be +EV from a player rentention and customer loyalty standpoint unless they want to jack up Q2 revenue before the IPO.

not that i think it's a good idea, but maybe they'll convert them to STANDARD STEP freerolls (or closest in value)

It is all good and well for party to say "you must use them or lose them...", but, the way that they have structured this promotion dictates that for every step that is run, there will be additional "freerolls" awarded -- in essence once started, it is impossible for all the players out there to use up *all* of their freerolls.

For party to eat these up without compensation would be worthy of an email to the gaming commission imho...

Some place in Gibraltar... you would have to ask them though for the specifics, and of course don't expect a straight answer either!
