I don't understand what you mean Stinky. The reason why I use that terminology is because that's exactly the line Rev Canada uses. Check out form IT-334R2 titled "Miscellaneous Receipts" under points 3, 10 and 11.

Would that make Western US second best place?

We do have to pay taxes. But if you live in SoCal, like me, Vegas isn't very far away. It's a must see for the poker player, just for the fesitivities with tournaments, etc. Plus the games are softer than what most of us play online.

Then you have Commerce, the Bike, Ocean's 11, Hustler, Hollywood Park, and a bunch of other poker rooms and casinos with poker rooms to choose from. And they are all filled with bad players. So you can mix up your live play and online play so you don't go crazy.

Very true. Some nice big indian casinos and vegas nearby. Indeed, the downsides are the taxes and enormous cost of living.

if your looking for big B&M games, western canada is piss poor action...the only place to find a regular 30/60 every day is in River Rock vancouver (richmond)...and they only have 50/100 at most on the weekends.

Im here in Alberta close to the mountains and yes no taxes. As long as you have another job your gamblin revenues are tax free. Its a grey area if all you do is play poker. Current case before the courts Kids that just play Sports select and win big.Remeber here in Canada the All other crimes innocent till proven guilty. Tax law Guilty till proven innocent.

This is not true. I just posted about this in the internet gambling forum this morning after talking to 2 different accountants.

I was prepared to go on a family members businesss payroll as a full time employee and not actually work there, so I could pay taxes on 30-40k a year and claim my poker income was a hobby and not pay taxes on it

Both accountants said this wouldn't work as I was making to much money from poker

Its cetainly a pain to keep switching between a 5pm to 9am and 9am to 0am cycle.

Would be a bit worried about the Canadian tax thing.

I think the awesome fishing/skiing/canoeing here makes poker an impossible profession

Yeah I agree... if you like outdoor activities, but like to live in a real city, Vancouver can't be beat. Last year I pulled the golf during the day, snowboarding at night deal.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hopefully that won't be possible this year....because when it is possible...the hills are [censored].
