Best place to live for online poker pro: Western canada?
 

Western canada should be the best place to play.

-No taxes on winnings.

-In the noontime hours, people in Europe are getting off work and are filling up the tables.

-In the afternoon, people on the east coast of North America are getting off work and are filling up the tables. It is almost midnight in Europe, and the Euro late-nighter fishes are online.

-In the evening, the east coast late-nighter fishes are online, and the west coast is getting off work.

-At night, the west coast late-nighter fishes are online, and you go to bed at 3AM with the last of 'em.

-Wake up the next morning at 11am and start over. Your whole waking day is filled with peak hour times, giving you the freedom to choose your own schedule.

-While you are sleeping, you miss Australian and east asian peak hours, but our poker sites don't have a lot of asian speakers on them, anyway. So really you are only missing out on the Aussie/NZ fish.

It's true but not true. Gambling winnings are not taxable. However, when winnings move from "windfalls" into "primary income" and there's a "reasonable expectation of profit" then it's taxable.

Basically if you have a real job, and play poker on the side you are probably fine.

but the original poster is currently residing in San Diego so I'm assuming he's an American citizen. In which case he needs to be paying taxes anyway (except on his first $80k of income I believe...which ain't too shabby....but I'm not sure I'm 100% correct about this).

I think the awesome fishing/skiing/canoeing here makes poker an impossible profession

Yeah I agree... if you like outdoor activities, but like to live in a real city, Vancouver can't be beat. Last year I pulled the golf during the day, snowboarding at night deal.

We do have to pay taxes. But if you live in SoCal, like me, Vegas isn't very far away. It's a must see for the poker player, just for the fesitivities with tournaments, etc. Plus the games are softer than what most of us play online.

Then you have Commerce, the Bike, Ocean's 11, Hustler, Hollywood Park, and a bunch of other poker rooms and casinos with poker rooms to choose from. And they are all filled with bad players. So you can mix up your live play and online play so you don't go crazy.

the season fuking blew last year my bike just got out of the shop so maybw i can get a few ips up and down the sea2sky highway before it starts rainf. but if that happens i can just xhill with like 20 asian hotties while i go o sxhool play poker and have fuckinf blast. in short, vancouver is teh bomb morans.
