This call is bad, but how bad?
With 1 being horrible and 10 being fine, rate this cold-call. FWIW, I play bad, so please do not state the obvious.
Canterbury 15/30 (9 handed) A kid from the must move game has just sat down and has raised 7 of his 10 hands. He raises in EP after one limper. 3 cold callers, and I cold call in the CO with K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Flame. |

Re: This call is bad, but how bad?
It depends on a whole bunch of different things, but I'm going to give it a 6.5.

Re: This call is bad, but how bad?
6.5 if you play well post flop. 3 if you don't.

Re: This call is bad, but how bad?
You are getting fine odds to call 2 cold for your flush draw, but you aren't drawing to the nuts.
You could be in a lot of trouble if you make one pair on the flop. 2 pair, or a 77x flop would give you a monster, but a KKx flop would make you vulnerable to a K with higher kicker. If you make a pair or any draw on the flop, expect to put a lot more in chasing. I am going to go against the rest of the group, and just give this one a 4. I think this is a profitable enough game that you can wait for better starters. |

Re: This call is bad, but how bad?
The severity of pre-flop mistakes are almost always over blown.
In other words, when taken as just this one isolated incident, it can never be a huge pre-flop mistake to make this call from the cutoff, after a raise and 3 cold-callers, with K7s. However, the frequency of even minor pre-flop mistakes especially when combined with poor post-flop play can prove very costly in the long run. |
