Default 45s bottom two pair against a total monkey 5/10

guy is semi-new. plays typically bad in general but can be irrational. effective stacks 1500.

he opens for 40 from mp, one call, i call on button with 54s blinds out

he checks, mp checks, I bet 100, he c/r to 200, mp fold, i call.

check, check

I bet $400 on the turn, and fold to a raise.

do you think that maximizes profit across his hand range?

Well, let me go ahead and assume a hand range here.

Hands that beat us: KK, 44, 55
Hands we beat: AA, QQ-66, AK, KQ, KJ. I don't think I can put him on a flush draw here.

Very few combos beat us, so I'm not too afraid of that...

If we're ahead, AA, AK, KQ and KJ will all probably stick around. QQ-TT might call, depending on the player..., <TT folds.

Since there are more combos of hands that he will likely call down with that we are ahead of than ones that he will c/r (again), I think that this is a good line.

I think the way you played it maximizes the hand. Seems like a WA/WB scenario. The way he bet/raised makes this especially likely. Seems likely he's either trying to buy it cheap, or he's got you crushed and he's trying to get action.

There's also hands that are behind that will fold to a bet, but bet if checked to, to take into account.

He's not necessarily WA. AA/AK are 28% on the turn . Villain could have a flush draw. Is it worth giving a free card?

True, but I think that the value we get from his decent holdings offsets this.

Also, total monkeys like to call. They like it a lot.
