Edit: Reason to check the river: it's likely that the guy is on a four flush, which won't pay you off, but if he's got the ace he'll raise or call and win. There isn't positive expectation on this particular bet (though there was on the flop raise and turn bets).

Check out the position of hero relative to checkraiser.

P.S. Hey cutie, can I have your number!?

(Did you lose a side-bet or something?)

I made the crying call.

Results in white below:
SB has 8d Ah (one pair, aces).
Hero has Qs Js (one pair, jacks).
Outcome: SB wins 12.50 BB.

That's just sad.

Edit: I knew you called due to the pot size that you didn't blank out of the history. I also knew that you should've folded or else you wouldn't post the hand. This may have altered my opinion somewhat, but I think that what I said stands.

Re: 10% chance of bluff, sure, call if he bets. But he's checkraising, and very few people checkraise bluff, because very seldom will someone fold for one bet.

SB didn't play this hand that bad. He just called preflop with A8o. He probably should have 3-bet if he wanted to play. On the flop, it's 3-handed, he has a middle [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and thinks he may take it down here. That backfires, but he calls one with his flush draw. On the turn he picks up a wheel straight draw, and on the river he doesn't just bet out, he check raises. NH Villain.

Well, I don't know...

To me, drawing to the flush with only an 8-high on a four-flush board seems a little fishy. Once it's HU it's not so bad though.

Heh. I get lost in threads sometimes.

Yes, the number is 1-800-700-6666 (redhotdateline.com)

And yes, I lost the open challenge. I met my quota but dealer_toe had like 5k hands more than I did. I think he sandbagged.
