Default Value bet on the river with A-high

A value bet on the river with A-high?
Do you ever do that?
What do you think about this one?

Yes, in some (rare) circumstances you can value bet A high on the river but NEVER without a solid read on your opponent.

check the river.

yes I bet ace high for value once in a blue moon. There is a 0% chance that he is calling with a worse hand 55% of the time.

I won't value bet A-high with position unless I have strong reason to believe he has a worse ace. Out of position this bet would make more sense.

in that case I don't like it. even if you do have the best hand, he will almost always fold if you bet. even if there is razor thin +EV here, imagine the extra +EV you get from knowing he had J8o here, or even something like 97o. in addition, you don't get c/r bluffed.

just some thoughts.

I figured he is probable to have:

Tx
PP
Ax

Judging from his play I figured Ax was most likly. Since low pairs "should" have been ch/r.

But maybe this play wasn't right against an unknown.

EDIT: One thing I didn't think about but that someone else observed is that since he called from UTG he is probable to be LP? And LP like to call pairs down?
