Yah, I've been considering that since I posted but want to confirm.

Flop: Call is very questionable. Some reasons have already been given but it also hurts that pairing your hand on the turn doesn't provide a normal increase in outs. Whichever card you pair, hitting the other one on the river is probably useless and often bad.

Turn: This hand is too good to merely checkcall, but checkraising a potential big king is too risky. Bet-fold is what's left.

River: Your chances of inducing a bluff are about nil. Big aces won't bet this river. I would be ecstatic to get a free showdown with AQ. Betting collects from a wide range of hands including eights, small pocket pairs, and big aces especially AQ. Very hard to let AQ go at 9-1 and I really have no idea why Villain called the turn in the sandwich seat unless he wanted to show his hand down.

I fold the flop. I would only give myself about 3 outs here, due to the K possibility, and the possibility of an A with a bigger kicker. This is especially true since BB has something he likes enough to call with. I think the fact that you hit one of the best cards you could on the turn and you still have to take a bet-fold line is an indicator that you should get away from the flop.

Since you called, I do like the turn and river line.

How many hands with an 8, or small PPs, 3bet preflop and play this way? I don't think there is very much value in a river bet, if at all - though I could be wrong. What do you think of my prior analysis? It seems to me that we have odds to see a showdown but there are few that this type of player (taggish but still loose but doesn't go to showdown alot) will call with on the river.

As you said, if he called the turn in that spot it looks like he's trying to get to showdown - would this type of player be doing that with AQ? probably not? JJ? Probably so.
