AKs vs TAP
Button is 16.90/8.45/1.30 ... UTG is 77/0.0/0.32 Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. MP2 posts a blind of $0.5. UTG calls, 2 folds, Hero raises, 2 folds, Button calls, 2 folds, UTG calls. Not much to discuss here, a cold call from a tight player though. Flop: (8.50 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) UTG checks, Hero bets, Button raises, UTG folds, Hero 3-bets, Button calls. Here's my real question, should I three-bet him here or checkraise him on the turn? Turn: (7.25 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets, Button calls. River: (9.25 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets, Button calls. Final Pot: 11.25 BB |

Re: AKs vs TAP
I'd three bet here. You probably have him beat. The only reason to check-raise on the turn is if you think that wil knock him out, buy hes probably calling with king-someting or a flush draw. If he outdraws you, bad luck. If he flopped a set or two pair, why is he only calling? You cant let him draw out on you cheaply. IMO, you should always three bet in these types of situations. If he caps and comes out strong on the turn you can reassess then.

Re: AKs vs TAP
You must keep betting. You do not have position, so there's no guarantee he will bet if you check on turn.

Re: AKs vs TAP
3 bet the flop. You don't want the turn to get checked through. You also don't want to find out you're behind on the expensive street.

Re: AKs vs TAP
I wonder why you even posted this, it seems pretty standard to me. Did he have KQ? I bet he got scared you had KK or JJ and called down from there or maybe he put you on a flush draw pump and just called the river.

Button is 16.90/8.45/1.30 [/ QUOTE ] once it's HU, i'd probably just call down unless he checks the turn. maybe lead out the river- not based on a 3rd [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] falling, but almost any card? i don't think a player of these stats is betting a flush draw, and i'm calling down because i think our hand is good but not sure. |

[/ QUOTE ] A 1.3 AF is capable of raising hands that you beat here, even draws. Also if villain's stats are over a small sample he could be more aggressive postflop once they even out. |

Re: AKs vs TAP
i'm not saying you're wrong, sharp, for 3-betting the flop. i'm just saying i'm willing to lose the extra SB and call down. i could definitely be wrong here, just my opinion at this point.
