Re: stupid question but I gotta ask
To add even further confusion, some online sites deal it backwards too.
As far as "correctness", it's a home game so if a rule is modified to fit the players, no biggie. It comes down to what the TD wants. If the TD wants it by the book then button = SB, if the TD wants it like the "other" games, ok then. For strategy, it matters a great deal who the BB is in heads up play. If you search the tournament forums here back to nearly a year ago you'll find some strategy adaptations for "backwards" games. Unfortunately I can't remember any details about the thread. |

Here's the follow up question. Who gets dealt the first card? BB or the button? [/ QUOTE ] The BB |

To add to the confusion, the Dealer is 1st to act before the flop, last to act after the flop. [/ QUOTE ] Why is this confusing? Small blind alway act before big blind and it is always the person after the dealer who act first after the flop. -sunek |

Re: stupid question but I gotta ask
as a followup, our home tourneys used to have the sb wherever it happened to land (depending on the position of who busted in 3rd). so sometimes it'd be on the dealer and sometimes on the bb. now we always have a dead button hand if necessary to get it aligned right.

Re: stupid question but I gotta ask
I am not quite sure if this is correct, but when moving from 3 players to 2 players, we play the BB is the person who was not the BB last hand (or the hand before if neither were the BB). This way the same player does not get the BB twice in a row. The button goes to the other player.
Is this correct? It seems fair but not sure if correct. |

Re: stupid question but I gotta ask
I believe a dead button hand is in order here, as one of the TDA rules says "Tournament play shall use a dead button" and makes no explicit ruling when 3rd place busts.
