whats with all the old guys playing omaha live?

I like to play low limit Omaha after my holdem game at Ocean's 11 near San Diego. You are right, its all older players. Two tables, most everyone 60 plus. None of the younger players touch that game. They all play no limit holdem.

Start playing at midnite. It's the only time to play all the buzzards have gone to bed and the ones that are left are USUALLY fun to play with.

This is a good idea. A lot of the oldtimers are playing a social activity. They want to play without variance and get upset with anybody who gambles or pushes small edges. They have also learned that the fewer hands they play, the less they lose. If you notice, they take every opportunity to slow down or stop the game.

The good news is that they all go to bed early. If the games haven't been smothered like an infant in his cradle, they usually perk up in the wee hours.

ummm hello? those old geezers are the ones that provide you with the most chips... if i wanted crazy wild aggessive games, id step over to the 3-6+ limit hold em games where all the young guys all have their dicks out with measuring tape.

Chips, perhaps, but not the most chips. The people I'm talking about are making minimum buy-ins followed by short buys. (I'm not talking about all geezers (like me, for example [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] ), just those that are using the O8 tables as a venue for their grumpiness.)

Almost makes me wish I lived in California so I could see this for myself

If you have a restricted amount of money to spend playing poker, you play Omaha, the slowest game on the planet. Fewer hands per hour equals lower rake.
