True, but you shouldn't need a 1000BB roll if you don't play for a living. What you have now should be adequate if you can step down if things turn sour.

I would take a shot at the game, and if things go well, stay! If not, then go back to 5/10, rebuild your bankroll and confidence, work on your game, and take another shot another time.

I can't offer you any advice but I have the exact same plan (although first I want to pay-off all my bills so I will not be going for it for a few months). I think it's a great plan. Good luck!

I really think 200BB will fry you as well as take a long time to make up at a lower limit.

this is what i did except. just like you can start out running bad you can start out running good. take a shot, you've gotta move up eventually.

One thing to consider is how much actual dollars can you lose and not freak out? For me the magic number is like 1000 in a short period of time. Around there I start to remember it is real money and that sucks. I'm getting over it quickly at 10/20 and beyond but still, are you ready to play well and drop 2000 in a couple hours?

your plan sounds reasonable, but as we both know variance can be quite the whore. Bankroll has to enter into the question at some point, but ultimately if you are playing well and can beat the game need to be the deciding factors if you should stay. I wish you the best of luck.

I agree with this. I wouldn't set aside a certain number of big bets or so.

As someone who can beat the 5/10, you should be clever enough to determine if you can beat the 10/20 game.

I recommend keeping your eye on a table a night or something like that, and sitting if you find conditions favorable.

I think getting in a trap of thinking "I'm a 10/20 player, or a 5/10 player.." is a mistake. Play where and when the games are good. You have the bankroll to sit at a 10/20 table, and if you lose, you'll know it was because you had a good expectation. So, losing shouldn't be so painful.

Make it a slow transition.
