A Plan for Taking a Shot at $10/20 6-max
 

I would apreciate comments on the following plan for "taking a shot" (as opposed to making a permannent move) at $10/20 6-max.

I currently have over 1,000 BBs for $5/10 (which is what I am currently playing). My tentative plan would be to build up (hopefully) to 1200 BB and then use the 200 BBs as a 100BB "shot" roll at 10/20 6-max. If I win great. If I lose it I go back to $5/10 and repeat. I guess one issue is even if I win (whether on the first, second or some subsequent attempt) how I would know whether to make the move permanent or not. I guess I would want to (a) feel that I was a winner in the game (not just based on short-term results) and (b) have a roll of 800-1000 BBs.

Definately take a shot. Use good table selection and hope you run well. 10/20 is not that much different than 5/10 just a little more agg. If you feel like your out of your league just move back down and keep taking shots until you feel comfortable. Good luck

Continue playing 5/10.

Every day, 1 or 2 table 10/20 for an hour or so. Only pick juicy tables and focus heavily on reads.

I'm working on the same plan, once I have 500 BB for 10/20 I'm gonna take 100 BB and see how I run

of course, I haven't played in like 4 days so I need to get on my horse

Do you play for a living?

I might give it more than 100BBs. Very easy to drop that if you run bad at first.

Generally you only see this comment from people who don't have a ton of hands at the limit. IMO experienced players know it's a very different game.

Colgin, taking a shot is good. You need to come away with a better idea of the skills you need to work on at 5/10 to make it at 10/20. This is the most important thing about taking a shot.

I say go for it. Sounds like you are ready. Make it 150 BB though. 100 BB swings are speed bumps in this game.

Or you can do what I did and take a 600 BB win or bust shot hehe.

Good advice. This was sort of my thinking for the idea of taking a shot. I didn't necessarily seem to make sense to just play 5/10 until I had 1,000 BBs for 10/20 and then move up full time saying "OK, now I am ready since I have the roll".
