Re: Research on going broke, please take poll.
[ QUOTE ]
For this to be worthwhile, you should survey by age. In my late teens/early twenties, I thought little of going broke. In fact, I chucked it all and went into business for myself. Don't think I'd be willing to do that now. I also think that when you're young is the time of life when you probably should chase big gains and not worry too much about going broke. However, when you get to my age (position in life), going broke is very undesirable. There are too many responsibilities, kids, etc. to even entertain the idea of putting yourself in a position of going broke. Broke is for the young. [/ QUOTE ] You make some good points. All of which I have considered. The poll is what it is. I may do something else later, or not. Feel free to make your own if you like. In the meantime I am very interested with the responses I've gotten. |

Re: Research on going broke, please take poll.
Well, after 125+ responses, some patterns are emerging.
The results have been enlightening. I'm most surprised by the "what would making the going broke chance" answers, it seems many people did not realize they could choose more than one response for that question. As a result, the tallys look a bit funny. Shameless bump for more exposure. |

Re: Research on going broke, please take poll.
To the people who responded that they've never gone broke, there are three probable reasons why this is so.
1. They haven't played long enough. ( 2 years is not a long time) 2. They are lying. 3. Their bankroll is huge compared to the stakes they are playing. |

Also it is possible to go broke for non-poker reasons. People in their early 20's, or younger, have had less opportunity to go broke. I'm surprised that so many have said that they take precautions against going broke, compared to those who have made contingency plans. I would think one would go in hand with the other. |
