I think that most Snell lids are Dot/Snell. I dont think ive seen one that is just snell. rJ [/ QUOTE ] I belive thats because if it passes snell it automatically passes DOT specs. I guess the snell helmets are much harder than the DOT only helmets and are designed for very high impact collisions that are likely to leave you brain damaged regardless. DOT helmets are a bit softer and are more apt to give a little more. The article is a very good read if you have a couple minutes. |

Re: Q for bikers
Nice choice. Honda V4's are IMO one of the best motorcycle engines ever created. I hope to be purchasing one of these in the near future:

I want one of those... or a Ducati Monster. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I really like the look of naked bikes. The monster is a very cool bike to look at at least (i havent been on one). The SV also comes without the front fairing and looks cool too, but that model is much more prevalent in the US. Also the Honda 599 is a sweet looking bike, but costs a little more than the SV. rJ |

Also, don't know if anyone cares (if you ride, you should. Nudge nudge KJS) but here is a hella long report on helmet safety standards, which essentially reports that helmets which are DOT certified are generally safer in "real world" motorcyle crashes than helmets which are SNELL aproved. SNELL helmets generally go for about $50 more than a comparable DOT helmet. In fact I am considering replacing my SNELL aproved helmet with a cheaper DOT helmet based on this article.
