Just asking the question smacks of racism.
Why? If his perception from the public cardrooms he's seen is that there are fewer black people there than in the general population, why is it racist to inquire why this might be so? |

personally, i think this is a silly thread, but you bring up an interesting statistical point to which i will apply myself.
you say that in every game YOU sit in, there appears to be about a proportional representation of african american card players. but risen, that is clearly falacious. think about it. there are about 12% of this country represented by your minority group. there are 10 seats at a card table. if YOU sit down in one of the 10 seats...thats 10% right there. so from your perspective all games that you are in seem about right relative to the comparative population densities. what you need to do is take a sample of casinos from all over the US and perform a full weighting scheme based on surrounding relative population frequencies in order to determine whether it is likely that there are fewer african americans who play poker than whites controlling for relative population frequency. -Barron |

Well i didn't want to let the cat out of the bag, But at the weekly meeting, all of the poker players lay out their plans for the following week, thereby ensuring there is no overlap at the tables. We don't need to end up splitting the sympathy pots from the liberals at the tables. Did you know that we reserve the right to replace any unseen card in hand with the race card (K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]) up to once per dealer down? It's in the house rules of the more reputable card rooms nationwide.
And yes this is a very silly thread, and no it is not a racist thread. They are mutually exclusive. If you are being offended by something that is silly, you need to lighten up. And in case you couldn't tell by now, 90% of the replies to this thread have been tongue in cheek. I can't tell if the righteously indignant ones have caught on or are playing along. |

Kurn, asking the question in itself is considered racist to MANY people. If you or others don't understand why, then take a race sensativity class and you'll find out why.
I'm not going to teach "Racism 101" to you guys, I'm sorry I responded, let's talk about poker hands and $hit... |

yea, maybe it screams racism to overly sensitive people. if somebody asked me why white men cant jump, or, why is football dominated by black men, i wouldnt take it as racism towards white! the same as the question why is ice hockey mostly white - thats not racist, its a fact. thats just the way this world is. different strokes for different folks. different cultures and different peoples enjoy different things more or less than others. hey, maybe thats why all us white guys are so out of shape in comparison! cause our lazy asses sit at a poker table all day! it goes both ways guys, chill out, this isnt 1930 anymore, we are in 2000. and if we cant ask a question regarding another race without it being racism, then we have more serious problems than poker talk. open your eyes! stand up comedians make fun of races all the time. all races. if we cant laugh at ourselves in this short life, what can we laugh at? besides, it sounded like an honest question anyways. now, a word to the "sensitive" - go back to rubbing your gf's feet and stay out of this forum zuluking! now, to the rest of you, happy poker! [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |
