I would rather see it further split
Nano-limit for big bet under $.25
Micro-limit for big bet $.25 to $.50
Low limit for big bet $1-$4
Small starting at $6 and then the rest the same.

No offence but I honestly can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not (which is weird because I'm naturally a very sarcastic person)

Too many forums, too much confusion. And those higher players wanting to help aren't going to want to go through 3 separate micro forums to help. Quality of advice would suffer and the nano players would be left to fend for themselves (shudder).

If you were being sarcastic, then feel free to poke fun at me. The following list should provide some fodder:
a) I'm pretty skinny for a 6'3" 21 year old male.
b) I absolutely love Sarah McLachlan (good music + milf)
c) I am Canadian (ie. currency value, igloos etc, beavers, mounties etc...)

Cheers

[/ QUOTE ]

I was being serious. This was from my experience starting at Stars .02/.04 tables with the $20 my wife let me have to try online play. I hung out here and RGP but quickly learned this was the place. As I moved up and then over to Party .5/1 once I had the bank roll, I needed different things but the forum is the same. I rarely play over 3/6 but during that time I learned to play confidently at 3/6 I felt those levels applied. Noobs at nano-limits need one type of help, micro another and I have found differnces between 1/2 to 3/6, I found their difference to be less than the difference between .5/1 and 1/2 and think that having seperate levels would reduce the noise for what players are looking for. I would expect micro to give advice in nano, low in micro, small in low, etc. I think it is more likely that a 5/10 could offer advice to a 1/2 player than a .05/.10 player and would rather not. But the 1/2 player would be able to provide advice to the .05/.10 and it might help him develop.

Sorry long winded, no I was not being sarcastic, so you poke fun at me.
a) 6' 39 year old male and neither skinny or pretty is used to describe me.
b) I had to look up who Sarah McLachlan was, although I know what good music is (both country and western) and I blush while claiming to have no knowledge of what a milf might be. I still have to stop what I am doing and watch Pam Dawber when ever she is on TV.
c) I am not Canadian so I am not eligible to become a famous American singer, comedian or actor. Darn.

I think you make good points, Vern. I just think it's a bit over the top and I'd probably be very overwhelmed if I was new to the forums.

You say:
"As I moved up and then over to Party .5/1 once I had the bank roll, I needed different things but the forum is the same."

I totally agree with that and I felt the same way too. I think one of the best possible ways to counteract that for a micro player is to read and post advice in small stakes, no matter what micro limit they are playing. My game really took off once I expanded my little world beyond the micro forum and into small stakes and most of the other forums (sometime around .25/.50 or .5/1 for me).

i think the problem is due to the changing nature of the poker environment. With the boom, several of the formerly tight games are loosening up and fit the description of Small Stakes, even if they are played at the 20/40 or even 40/80 limit. Many of the posters in the Small Stakes forum are near-experts in these types of games, and thus alot of 15/30 or 20/40 gets posted here. Similarly, alot of the micro forum members respect alot of the SS posters, and want thier input. (we rock, plain and simple)

I dont think combining them would do lot though, because i dont think combining the two groups would do a lot to get more experienced posters to respond to the micro stakes posts, and in fact might even cause fewer posts due to the increased traffic one would have to wade through.

I know im guilty of not getting into the micro forum as much as i should, or even at all. Perhaps i should work on that so that i can corrupt a whole group of players with LAG thinking.

I for one am in favor of dividing the mid/high forum.

peace

Haha you really should. The micro forum is going to morph into a "Micro, Stud/8 and TripleDraw" forum in the near future.

The signal:noise down there is much to low. Combining the two is the worst idea ever.

Yes, whether the gameplay between $1/2 and $3/6 is similar (which I doubt), combining the forums would be horrible. Many of the $2/4 and $3/6 players here are thinking about going up to $5/10, while $.5/1 and $1/2 players are still figuring out routine decisions that SS players have no trouble making.

Hell, the number of pointless $2/4 and $3/6 hands in this forum even is a little too much.

i'd rather vote on if they should split mid-high stakes limit into 2 categories,

high stakes being something like 30-60 +

and mid being 10/20 - 25/50 ( or something like that)

[/ QUOTE ]
That's almost exactly how it was when I started reading these forums. The mid-limit forum was for 10/20 through 40/80 and the high limit forum was for bigger games. They eventually got merged because at the time the high limit forum got very little traffic (people would post high limit hands in the mid limit forum since that's where all the people were anyway). It's funny that with the talk of dropping the micro forum (this poll) and of re-splitting mid and high, we are talking about going back to the setup we had circa 2000.
