Re: ne1 using 21\" LCD monitor?
for openers, you do not even understand what resolution is: FYI, Resolution and display clarity concern a lot more then screen size (Ex. 800x600,1024x768, etc.) 800x600 IS resolution, not screen size.
you have made vague references to clarity and quality and have not produced any logic to back up the statements. lcds are not as accurate as crts in terms of color reproduction, but that is generally not a matter of signifigance for anyone outside of desktop publishing/graphics work. the pixel response time is highly mitigated with 16ms panels. lcds are thinner, easier on the eyes, generate less heat, use less power, have perfect geometry, and are generally considered to "look better" by non-color perfectionists. |

Re: ne1 using 21\" LCD monitor?
I picked up the 213T a few weeks ago and I'm happy with it. 4 tables with room to spare, and a nice picture.
Not great for reading this forum at 12x16 though, unless you have better eyes than me. |

Resolution does not just mean screen size. Geez are you trying to beat me out for idiot of the year award?

Re: ne1 using 21\" LCD monitor?
you misread my post. resolution, when discussing displays, always refers this definition:
1. <hardware> the maximum number of pixels that can be displayed on a monitor, expressed as (number of horizontal pixels) x (number of vertical pixels), i.e., 1024x768. The ratio of horizontal to vertical resolution is usually 4:3, the same as that of conventional television sets. as i quoted earlier, you referred to resolution as "screen size". unsurprisingly, you ignored the rest of my post, but i trust that the original poster did not. |

Re: ne1 using 21\" LCD monitor?
I have the Samsung 213T. I can easily run 4 tables on it with no overlap, but if you plan on doing anything other then play poker on it I would reccomend CRTs. I can actually see the individual pixels on the 213T if I look at the screen so things have a tendancy to look grainy. This isn't a problem if you use it for only poker, but if you plan on using it for anything else such as movies or the porn on the side you might be disapointed.

Re: ne1 using 21\" LCD monitor?
i would heavily weigh the fact that the 213t will exhibit "ghosting" signifigantly more than the 2001fp. this will primarily be a factor in gaming, but it is easily noticed in movie playback or simple scrolling/moving of windows. the difference between 16ms and 25ms is massive.
furthermore, the 2001fp can often be found in the $750-$800 range. if you buy directly from dell, you have 30 days to return the monitor for whatever reason, and they will exchange it free of charge including shipping if you have any complaints (e.g. dead pixels). most vendors are not nearly as forgiving, requiring 4-8 dead pixels before issuing an exchange (with the shipping on your dime) or simply disallowing it. |

Re: ne1 using 21\" LCD monitor?
Common guys, no need to fight over "LCD vs. CRT" as there are plenty of other places on the web to argue that ad naseum. I appreciate all comments so far. I've already seen the 20" Dell LCD discussions but noticed few people actually looked at the 21".
I've decided to rotate my 3 Samsung 191T. Instead of placing the tables kitty-corner now I can put two on to of each other on one edge and then on next monitor do the same and basically have 4 tables together. The separation between monitors is not that noticable. I use an Ergotron 3-monitor stand and it works great. The portrait rotation also allows me to read web pages much better and the mrs. can do her Photoshop as well. why didn't I think of that earlier? Thanks for all the comments. |

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks for the reply. This was my #1 concern as well as my 20" CRT works fine for Poker but for multi-tasking I can't read squat. I thought maybe 21" would give slightly larger images and text at 1600x1200 but haven't used one myself. I specifically selected 19" LCD's at 1280x1024 b/c anything larger than 1280 I couldn't be productive with most office type apps without squinting. Rotating my three 19" LCD's to portrait orientation will solve all my issues! |
