Re: 99 fullring 1/2, this standard?
raising the flop is so so bad.
also preflop at 1/2 I would typically expect the limpers to be incapable of folding for 2 more, so I'd rather keep the pot smaller and leave yourself with good relative position in case you get a decent flop with just a pair. compare the potential flop actions for each scenario: 1. you 3-bet. now the pot is 4 ways for 16 bets. it's checked to you and you bet, giving everyone 17-1 2. you cold call. now it's 4 ways for 12 bets and you can raise the LMP guy and give the next guy 7.5-1 with a hand as vulnerable as nines, you like to (1) have the option to give up, as you should have done on this KKJ flop, and (2) be able to blow them off their weak draws on the flop by leaving LMP in the lead. but postflop is a lot worse than preflop. with a bet and a call, there's such a small chance 99 is good, and at best you're agaisnt a billion outs. then you're really considering betting the river? what is he going to call with? you can't just evaluate the chance that you have the best hand and bet based on that. you have to think what better hands will fold and what worse hands will call. |
