About dang time!

I know Moore is still injured but I think he's cried enough about his sorry ass. I read the entire report by Bettman and I think he fairly weighed all the factors in making his decision to return Bertuzzi to the NHL.

Now the Canucks are going to kick some serious ass. We have out 1st line intact with Morrison, Naslund and Bertuzzi, a solid 2nd line of the Sedins and Linden and rough checking 3rd and 4th line. I'd admit that our D is a bit shaky and unpredictable with Ohlund and Jovanovski. Sometimes those two show up and sometimes they don't. Now the true wildcard of the Canucks lies within our goaltending. I know Auld is most likely going to back up Cloutier this year and Auld has proved he can step up and take the pressure should Cloutier pull another injury or worse a stinker.

It's a great day to be a Canucks and NHL fan. I am definitely looking forward to the season.

Lawrence

Very well said. I don't think most people realize he couldn't play professional hockey at all last year.

[/ QUOTE ]

Who cares? I doubt Bertuzzi lost sleep over not being able to play European hockey last year. The NHL is the only real deal, it's all that matters. Most talent, most exposure, most money.

He received probation as part of his guilty plea.

Huh? Is he Canadian? Is this some kind of screwed up Candian court thing? Probation for breaking a guy's neck? I hope he's at least paying most of his salary to the other guy.

Bertuzzi got what he deserved, and had there not been a lockout, I think he should've sat out 10-15 more games in the regular season. Considering he was banned from professional and international hockey for a year, this punishment is enough.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree, and unless the NHL makes sweeping changes to the suspension rules that are already in place, suspending Bertuzzi longer than that wouldn't make sense based on suspensions given out in the past.

Oh, and by the by, no one has mentioned that the NHL didn't ban Bertuzzi from playing internationally, the IIHF did. So that wasn't part of his punishment - it was basically a proactive measure from the IIHF stating "There's no way in hell your thug ass is coming over to this side of the pond."

Todd Bertuzzi is scum. No, he's lower than scum. He aspires to one day be scum. His attack on Moore would put him in JAIL for a year if it hadn't been done in the arena of sport.

Its really a sad statement that you think Bertuzzi's reinstatement is a reason for it to be a great day as an NHL fan. The guy is an [censored] to fans (in Minnesota before we finished their sorry asses) and the worst kind of thug on ice. I'm all for the "code of hockey" being enforced. But not the way he did it. If he never played another NHL game, it would be too soon. Put him right there along with Marty McSorley.

Edit add: I put that Wild logo in there just so my angle is shown too. I had no problem with Bertuzzi until his more recent actions, and am certainly not an Avs apologist.

It is interesting that they upheld Bertuzzi's suspension but did not uphold Alexander Perehozghin's year-long suspension in the American Hockey League - Perehozghin went back to Russia, made more money there than he would've in the AHL, and now his suspension has elapsed (I think).
