Re: \"Magic\"
You are right, he is a true point guard. But what I am saying is that he was able to do ANYTHING on the court. If needed he could guard most centers and power forwards--Jordan could not. Consequently, he created a ton of problems on each end of the court match up wise.
Let's be honest--Jordan is the best ever no question. I just think Magic has the best arguement otherwise. |

[ QUOTE ]
Discounting the numbers put up by Michael Jordan in 17 late-season games, Pippen led the Chicago Bulls ... [/ QUOTE ] What is that sentence saying? Excluding 17 games? Or only counting 17 specific games? Either way 17 games = 20% of a season ... I don't see how you can choose to either disregard 1/5 of a season or only count it. Scottie doesn't belong on the list, even a dark horse list. |

Re: NBA: Greatest ever at each position
I think John Stockton was a great player but IMO to make it to the all-time team which is what this post is about you must’ve won the big one @ least once. As a result, guys like John Stockton, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing and Elgin Baylor are disqualified. Even though Moses played center, on my all-time team I put him as power forward because no one did better when it came to cleaning up the boards. Based on accomplishment alone, yes Dead, O’Neil (3 rings) is not the greatest center, Russell (11 rings) and Abdul-Jabbar (6 rings) come before him in that department. IMO though, O’Neil is the MDE, most dominant ever. He’s the baddest dude ever flat out when it comes to post-up play.
Center: Shaquille O’Neil. Power Forward: Moses Malone. Small Forward: Larry Bird. Shooting guard: Michael Jordan. Point guard: Oscar Robertson. I would put Magic in the point guard position but I am confident that the Big O will do just as good a job if not better. Plus, he seems to be a forgotten entity. You don’t have to be a Showtime player to make it to my all-time list. Finally, IMO Scottie Pippen does not even belong on the Top 50 list let alone all-time team. |

[ QUOTE ]
17 games! This is just one season and a stretch of games. Did you see the Bulls when Jordan was gone? Tony Kucoc became the go to guy, Pippen was awful. Did you see Pippen when he played in Portland--admittedly with a bunch of clowns--he was awful. [/ QUOTE ] That's not really fair, he was old in Portland, and he did do a fairly good job once they switched him to point guard. I admit that he was never as great alone as he was when he had great player to take attention away from him, I call it the Damon Jones effect. |

I got nothing but love for Sir Charles. Sorry Chuck you can’t make it to my all-time team because you blew it in 1993. You had an opportunity to win it all with the Suns.
