Hi PN,

You played it fine; fairly standard beat. Dust yourself off and play another hand, and next time don't visualize the cards that beat you coming off the deck when you're all-in; you have a rare, undesirable form of telekinesis (I also suffer from this affliction, so take my word for it).

I also wanted to point out that:

2-4 No limit, $300 buy-in at Foxwoods. I've been playing for about 40 minutes, have about $305 .

LOL. I'll bet you had exactly $305.

The only other thing about this hand is that against a competent player, you'd usually be coinflipping on the flop against a straight + flush draw, so in that sense, you were "lucky".

Thanks Cero and everyone else for the encouragement.

I hadn't thought about the possibility of being up against a straight and flush draw, but that's an interesting thought. Do you think someone calls the extra 35 preflop, heads up with KQs?

my comment is that you should play tables where a loss like this isn't life or death.

It wasn't at all "life or death". I don't have the skill to play at a level where the money would really matter.

I think I was mostly pissed just about the bad beat. I had a similar thing happen to me about 6 months ago at a $100 buy-in table. Got all my chips in preflop with AA against JJ. The other guy hit his set on the turn. I wasn't in the proper state to continue. Until I learn to just roll with these sorts of bad beats, I think it makes sense just to stand up and leave (recognizing that I won't be playing as well as I can).

This is a bad beat story however you disguise it. No-one ever posts hands asking for comments how they played when they caught runner-runner flush and busted someone.

I have a few comments.
1) You played the hand fine.
2) That's poker.
3) More than half of poker is learning to control your psyche. If you can do this successfully and play fundamentally sound poker you're going to be a long run winner. I'm sure you already know that though, bnt sometimes it's good to be reminded.

Gutshot flushes are the worst!

This is almost as bad as getting beat by the open-ended flush draw.
