Cy Young's 511 wins.

Wayne Gretzky's 215 points in a year and 3000+ for a career.

Wilt Chamberlain averaging 50.x points for a year.

I would have said Dan Marinos TD record, but...

Most wins in a year by a pitcher. FIFTY NINE. There are a lot of other baseball records that are 100+ years old that will never come close to being broken.

I got one. Most games by a franchise without running a kickoff back for a touchdown.

How about most games by a franchise without having a pitcher throw a no-hitter? Mets.

Didn't Seaver throw one for them?

The 1980 Olympics was Eric Heiden, btw. Yes, 5 golds in SPeed skating.

Most of the never-breakables have already been mentioned, but I will seperate a bit of the wheat from the chaff.

Gretzky's records. Highly unlikely to be broken, but not impossible.

Cal ripken's record. Unlikely to be broken, but DEFINITELY possible.

Dimaggio's hit record. Breakable, but not exceptionally likely.

Cy young's 551 wins, 360-some losses, 700-some complete games. No one will ever come within 25% of these #'s ever again.

Wilt's 50.4 PPG, 27.RPG avg, and never fouling out of a regular season game. None of these records will ever even be approached. He has several more that won't either.

Jerry Rice's records are highly unlikely ever to be broken.

Johnny Van Der Meer's back to back no hitters is not a record, it's a feat. I'm fairly certain someone else has a longer hitless pitching streak.

OReal hershiser's 59 consecutive scoreless innings will likely never be touched. He beat Don Drysdale's old record, accomplished in a pitching-dominated era when BOb gibson had a 1.12 ERA and they lowered the mound 6 inches to help compensate. The game since has changed too much.

Barry Bonds 73 HR's is highly unlikely to ever be approached again. 60 may never happen again.

No college basketball team will ever win 88(?) in a row like UCLA did. Too many of the good players leave.

No college football team will ever win 49 games in a row like Oklahoma did. Partially the same reason, but more that teams are much closer in talent/skill than they used to be.

No college football team will ever Score more than 222 points in a game, as Georgia Tech did vs Cumberland.

no, it was never done before. Hogan won 3 majors in a row in '53. Bobby Jones won the amateur slam, US and British Opens, US and British ams in one year. Not the 4 professional majors (no Masters when Jones did it of course)

Nobody mentioned Byron Nelson. 19. 11. Insane even in a war year. Still too many good players to win 11 in a row. Much harder to break than DiMaggio's record.

Tiger's current cuts made streak will last a while. When it ends that is.

I am actually surprised DiMaggios 56 and Williams 406 have lasted as long as they have.
