All of the mushroom suggestions about being around good people and a calm environment apply. But don't make it your first hallucinogen. If you have any kind of mental problems or undealt with emotional jazz it would be a good idea to hide all your knives and stay away from tall buildings and bridges. It is so intense that you have to be VERY careful while using it. You MUST read erowid's recommendations before trying it. Make sure there is someone you trust with you when you do it and make sure you are in a safe environment. Be warned tho, it's very very hectic and can definitly mess your head up for good if done with the wrong circumstances.

shrooms: amazing, make sure you are with other people who are trippin and are usually down to earth people or you might get freaked out. first time for me was amazing but kind of sucked in that i started tripping when my friends were already coming down/late at night. i ate an 8th (3.5g) straight up and it took like an hour and a half to kick in, but it was awesome after that. i reccomend not trying to go to bed while high on shrooms at all..trust me it's not a good idea..i was hearing symphonies in my head and the ceiling wouldnt stop twirling (even when i closed my eyes) overall it was a great experience though. the second time was a lot less hardcore it was just very mellow watching discovery HD on my plasma tv with a friend and the whole room was glowing red it was pretty cool. This is NOT uncommon, I know several people who suffer from it from mildly to severely. IMO, totally not worth it. For what? Being insane for a few hours? Don't buy the hype. It's just poison. No doubt a load of people will chime in about how they know a guy who doses a half-sheet of acid every week and scored 1600 on the SAT. Fine, some people are resistant to the deleterious effects. Is it worth taking the risk if you're one of those people, or one of the people who is posting on the HPPD boards about being lost in a world of hallucations, depersonalization, and anxiety for the rest of his life?
