Re: what laptops are best for poker?
Falcon NW laptops are some of the best out there (actually they make the best gaming computers/laptops period). In terms of quality IBM Thinkpads dont mess around either. Ive used dells before while Ive never had problems with them, they just feel cheap compared to the first two.

Re: what laptops are best for poker?
[ QUOTE ]
i would think that 1900x1200 on a screen that small wouldn't be too terrific. [/ QUOTE ] I was worried about this. I wear contact lenses; I am a lazy ass and my eyeglasses are just a wee bit out of date (i.e., not quite perfect for my prescription). I decided to jump on a deal with the 6000 anyaway some months ago, having been playing on a 17-inch screen with only 1280 X 800 - big images. The very first day the tables seemed small, though I could clearly make out cards, pot, even chat. By the second day the table size, font size, etc. seemed totally normal and when I use the older laptop now it feels like I've picked up my grandmother-in-law's large print Reader's Digest. (No grammar nazi comments on "grandmother-in-law's" please). |

Re: what laptops are best for poker?
I'd like to put in another vote for the Dell Inspiron 6000 with upgraded screen to WXGA (1900 x 1200).
It's a 15' widescreen. Some say that's too small for this type of resolution, but I beg to differ. I'm fine with it. Actually, I love it. 15' is still small enough to be portable. I don't need the extra power of the 9300 either. Adam |

Only 512 megs of ram. 3. Pentium IV, not Pentium M. I think its a pass. Also I have a friend with a gateway, and their support/warranty may actually suck worse than Dell's. |

Re: what laptops are best for poker?
Pentium IV instead of Pentium M means that you might as well call it a mobile desktop. You will never get very many hours on the battery.
Also 15 inch screen... bleeh for poker. |

Re: what laptops are best for poker?
Thanks to the speedy replies, I'm now in waiting for an Inspiron 9300. The only reason I was going with the best buy one was cause of the 18mo no interest, but I saw Dell was offering the same thing, plus the $750 coupon sealed the deal. I cant wait
