Re: stud 8 bankroll requirements
It's all cool hoss. There are really no dumb questions.
I am not totally sure I can give you a solid reason for why stud-8 has lower fluctuations and a higher win rate either. However, until someone convinces me otherwise, my experience tells me this is the case. al |

Re: stud 8 bankroll requirements
[ QUOTE ]
Had a debate the other night with someone regarding variability in stud8. I feel like your swings should be less in this game than in a straight high game (stud or otherwise). My companion argued that there was more raising and draws to play in High low and the variance was greater. I have two questions: Is the variance indeed greater in high low stud than in the high only games? What does this mean as far as bankroll requirements for stud 8? Is 300 BB still a good rule? Thanks in advance. [/ QUOTE ] ive never heard the 300 BB rule? i think you meant 30 BB? |

Re: stud 8 bankroll requirements
I meant 300 BB for whatever limit you choose to play. Not for a session, but for "the long run". Example is if you wanted to play 3-6 you would need a bankroll of $1800 to cover variance.

Re: stud 8 bankroll requirements
$1800 is more than enough for 3-6 Stud8 IMHO. If you play a sound game and stay out of pots that you know are junk, you'll do fine.
