he pays off a raise here with any pair. its .50/1, how many players bet/fold at this level? the only hand he folds is a pure bluff, he pays of PPs, Ax where the x hits, possibly A high, or most likely any 9x.

look... im not saying i raise. i think raising and calling this run very close in value. all im saying is that raising is infinitely better than folding in this spot.

I forget who said it, but it goes something like this:

Our villains want to check/call the river with their mediocre hands and bet or checkraise with their monsters and bluffs.

I really really really doubt this villain is betting the river with pocket pairs, 9x, or Ax. Most likely they would just c/c with these.

I usually expect to see jacks (villain calls down because he is afraid of overcards until the river card assures him he has top pair) weird two pairs and straights here, and occasional bluffs. There is no value in raising against any of these.

I agree with luck that call > fold > raise
