He's a regular SS and MHS poster. He pretty consistently offers great analysis on hands and is beating mid-limit Party games. He has great taste in music. He lost a lot of money to me on prop bets tonight.

I like a check here. MY first thought was to bet and fold to a CR, but then I realized that jgorham could very well bluff CR you here if he puts you on a hand that can fold.

My reason for check is twofold:

1: I really don't want to be CRed at all. Cause most of the times that we will get CRed here, we're gonna end up losing more then we will end up winning when he tries to bluff us.

2: maybe we can induce a bluff here from a hand like AJ or AK, and we can possibly get a weaker PP like 1010 or 99 to bet the river. I'm really not sure that we lose all that much for the times that we check

now, I'm not sure what he is check calling that flop with. Is it possible that he could've been checking to set up a turn bluff? DOes he have a hand like AQ or 77 or even 44. Since he is a smart player, I figure that his opening range is pretty wide here, but he also has to take you sitting next to him into accout. Also, how has the table generally been in this session?

I bet call.

I would think both of your hand ranges have to be fairly large right now. I open with about a billion hands from the CO and I 3-bet a ton more hands from the Button if the CO will open with a wide range.

I think of the hands he raises from the CO that he would call a turn bet with include

AQ, KQ, QJ, Q10, Q9, Q8s, JJ, 1010, 99, 88, 77, 44, 66, 55, A7, A4 and maybe AJ, A10s, A9s, A8s, KJs, K10s, K9s (if he has 4 flush now).

I have not done the math on all the possible combinations, but I think you are losing money here by not betting. B/c from his perspective I'm not give you credit for a normal 3bet hand and the queens pairing makes a lot of my other smaller pairs look much better right now.

There are no considerations like that here. I just got moved to jgorham's table and this was my third hand at the table.

Assuming that you can't fold to a turn c/r, I would check. You don't allow him to put you in a tough situation by c/r you on the turn, and you allow him to make a mistake by betting the river or calling a bet on the river with a hand he normally would fold on the turn.

And I think these considerations more than compensate for the times he would have paid of two bets, or for the times that you let him outdraw you for free.

Against known tight-aggressive players who also have good postflop skills, I like a check here.

Obviously call a river bet and bet yourself if checked to.

There are only 3 cards you don't want to see on the river (aces) and you may get an extra bet out of a middle pocket pair or a big ace that might otherwise fold the turn.

Some crappy hands may bluff the turn and of course you also avoid a checkraise from a queen or flopped set.

IMO, all this outweighs the bets you are missing against hands that would call that turn bet.

The question that you're not thinking about in this thread is "what happens if he doesn't have a queen".
