I think calling with suited connecters should be done sparingly. Im MORE likely to call with a small suited connecter if I think the preflop raiser has a big pair(and the stacks are deep). Most people have a hard time getting rid of those big pocket pairs. So chances are if I outflop him, ill stack him.
The trouble comes when you flop a poor hand. Do you call with bottom pair with 56 on a board of 58J? He could just be making a standard continuation bet...

I think its a MUCH better move to raise preflop with suited connecters. Most of the time you'll take down the pot on the flop uncontested...and when you do hit it its very hard for your opponents to put you on your hand.
