[ QUOTE ]
"Keeping your chin up," and being emotionally affected (stress) when people around you are dying are not at all conflicting actions.

[/ QUOTE ]

Stress is caused by continuing pressure. 9/11 wasn't the source of the stress for most Americans, it only unlocked the potential for stress when we didn't know where it was leading, if the attacks had ended, what kind of repercussions would occur.

Stress isn't tied to sorrow or value of human life. It's from worry.

Quick, everybody look! An intelligent post!

I didn't mention 9/11... but I agree with what you said about it.

Definition of stress (American Heritage dictionary):
A mentally or emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition occurring in response to adverse external influences and capable of affecting physical health, usually characterized by increased heart rate, a rise in blood pressure, muscular tension, irritability, and depression.

Call being affected emotionally whatever you want, stress, worry, fear, sorrow, anxiety - the question is still whether or not people should be stressed or not, and jokerthief is still an idiot.

I never thought Brits were easily rattled, and they have experience with similar attacks and were prepared for the possibility of attacks stemming from being a US ally. I used 9/11 for the similarity.

But, having never been to London, I can't say I know how relationships between muslims and non-muslims was affected by recent events. I imagine that the bombers being Brits instead of foreigners makes things a little stickier at a more personal level, and that's where the stress is coming from.

I understand jokerthief's statement, so I don't think he's an idiot for thinking that way. I'm ashamed of a lot of the knee-jerk thoughts I had after 9/11 as well. It's just cathartic.

After reviewing your, um, "contribution" to this thread, I have decided your posts are tendentious and unnecessarily obtuse.

As I am tired of trolls in this forum, I am compelled to place you on "ignore" as well.

If the point is that Muslims are more stressed, this makes perfect sense to me.

I remember all the racist asshats coming out of the woodwork after 9/11, and all the acts of random violence they inflicted on innocent Muslim Americans.

For Muslims, I think this would be pretty stressful if that environment is present in London.

(I remember in Indiana some racist rednecks here couldn't even get it right. They attacked and put a guy from India in the hospital to avenge 9/11. You'd think a racist would at least know the correct races he hates, lol.)
