London Bombing aftermath on London\'s citizen\'s...

Snipped from Yahoo News:

Bombs cause no major stress for most Londoners

LONDON (Reuters) - Less than a third of Londoners suffered a significant rise in stress due to last month's deadly bomb attacks, according to a report by psychiatrists on Friday.

Muslims were more than twice as likely to suffer stress as a result of the July 7 attacks -- carried out by four British Muslim men -- with 62 percent saying it had an emotional impact.

I'm a Londoner, and am ashamed to say that I found the last sentence quite satifying when I first read it and thought 'Good!'.

I think that's a perfectly natural reaction. It's good to see you brits are keeping your chin up, btw.

I'm not sure I get the point either of you are making. My inference from your post is that British Muslim citizens are more conscientious of the value of life of other people.

"Keeping your chin up," and being emotionally affected (stress) when people around you are dying are not at all conflicting actions.

In other words, you should not have been ashamed when you thought "Good," because you should have thought "Good," these people care about values and life, then you should have thought..."Bad" Why aren't non-muslims stressed out by their fellowmen dying?

Then again, I'm no one to tell you how to think, but consider it.

The point is that the stress Londoners are facing, because of the attacks, isn't overbearing. I was emotionally affected after 911 but I didn't have to see a psychiatrist because of it. It was a simple post. Try rereading it a few times.

Try re-reading it once more, then my reply to it, then try again if you come up with something new.

I won't hi-jack this thread to satisfy jokerthief's idiocy.

OP: "Less than 1/3" of Londoners means ~30-32% were significantly stressed. When it says 62% of Muslims were emotionally affected, they are still Londoners.

My reply was intended for you to question whether or not people should be emotionally affected or not.

To others reading, hopefully I'm not jokerthief's last. If a one sentence retort is too much for him to handle, I can't imagine how he has 500+ posts on this board... perhaps only posting and never reading?

Stress is caused by continuing pressure. 9/11 wasn't the source of the stress for most Americans, it only unlocked the potential for stress when we didn't know where it was leading, if the attacks had ended, what kind of repercussions would occur.

Stress isn't tied to sorrow or value of human life. It's from worry.
